The unconvincingly magical tool!

Have you ever given up learning something mid-way, thinking it was never meant for you?  Was it learning to swim or learning to play the guitar? Do you have any long pending learning desire?

When the desire reaches to its peak, you pull yourself and get started. You start the journey with a coach or all by yourself with tremendous zeal. You continue to indulge for a couple of learning sessions. You still don’t get it. You don’t give up this soon. You google for the best techniques- incorporate them as you learn, and when you are just about to get there, you stop. Yes, you do! Believe me, a lot of us stop - just when we are about to accomplish. We turn when the end is inches away. Why? Because our mind says so. Our mind gives a lot of ‘excuses’ to convince our logically thinking brain to ‘stop’.

We would have been narrating a different, a positive, and a successful tale if we hadn’t succumbed to the trifling excuses of our mind.  But, it is a challenge not to give in to your mind, isn’t it?
It’s not as challenging as it seems. You can trick your mind by asking it a lot of questions. Ask a lot of ‘whys’ to your mind. Counter argue for the answers it gives. When it screams ‘Stop’, ask why you started in the first place. Ask ‘why’ it asks you to ‘stop’. Demand justifications for the reasons it gives.  Ask ‘why’ you should not continue till you succeed.  Visualize yourself successful & allow your mind to feel the success, and you will achieve what you had set out to achieve. Make success your habit!

Lot has been said about this mystical power of mind!  Some wonderful thinkers have fashioned some beautiful treasure books unfolding the hidden power of mind. I have read a few of these books. Yet, I failed at many things. Because I just read. I didn’t pursue them.  But, not for long! The realization came soon and through a very ordinary experience.

I was typically bad at playing carom or, I thought I was. Often when my husband and I played carom on one of such lazy evenings, I would lose. You know why I would lose, because my mind was conditioned to lose. It made me believe- I could never win the game.  On one such evening when his banter was exceedingly excruciating, I was determined to win and surprisingly I won the very next set.  My winning didn’t surprise me the most, but the thought that ‘it works’ did. It works! It really works! We can condition our mind to do the most extraordinary things.

Your mind is your greatest tool. Use it in your favor, and not against you. Unleash the every ounce of the power of your mind, and you will have millions of success stories to narrate.
